The entire family is welcome at the Vero Beach Museum of Art on Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Children’s Art Festival. The FREE, all-ages event, is the museum’s annual celebration of the arts and art making. Attendees will enjoy art projects in the studios, music and dance performances, food trucks, art hunts, docent-led tours of the galleries, and free admission to the museum’s galleries.
Families can engage with VBMA teaching artists in special art-making opportunities inspired by the French Moderns exhibit, including:
- Easy Easel Painting— After visiting the museum galleries, use acrylics, canvases, and easels to create a masterpiece with Vicki Marsango;
- Colorful Cut-out Creations— Explore bold shapes and bright colors to design a cut-paper composition inspired by Henri Matisse’s famous collage style with Sophia Strazinsky;
- Sail Away with Clay— Join the Regatta and sculpt a miniature sailboat using air-dry clay, inspired by Roul Dufy’s painting in the French Moderns exhibition with Karla Nester;
- Botanical Banners— Layer and blend colorful tissue paper to create a beautiful, garden-themed banner with Lauren Kennedy;
- Collective Monet Mural—Join fellow artists to recreate Monet’s Houses of Parliament! Design a small image to add to the collective creation using colored pencils and chalk pastels, led by Adam Conard.
