Boutique Hotel in Stuart Florida: The Old Colorado Inn
Are you looking to visit Stuart Florida?
I mean, real Florida-not a tourist trap? Look no further than the Old Colorado Inn!
This charming and quaint boutique hotel in Stuart Florida: The Old Colorado Inn, is the best place (and most convenient) lodging to the heart of downtown, Stuart.
This hotel includes a collection of cottage-like properties, that were built in the late nineteenth, and early twentieth century! The hotel itself, was originally used as the main hotel in Stuart, but later used as apartments.

You’ll feel the craftsmanship, rich history, and charm as soon as you walk into these suites. And for that, we can thank the architects along the way, and the Vitale family, who purchased the properties in 2007.
The Vitale family poured their hearts into restoring the iconic buildings back to their original state, a boutique hotel! The hotel reopened in late 2011, and has been serving happy guests ever since.
Nestled in the center of the hotel, is the bar and grill, Sneaki Tiki. You can ejoy live music, great food, and drinks within a few steps from your room!
Around the hotel property, you’ll find cottages and suites for rent- the Blue House, the Ernest Lyons House, the Clifton Guest and Fishing Lodge, the Owl House, the Enchanted Cottage, the Oasis Suite, and the Coastal Cottage
These rentals are in a prime location-they are close to downtown shops, boutiques, restaurants, and of course, the St. Lucie River!
Some of the cottages have pool access, too!
The views from downtown Stuart are some of the best. You can experience history and charm in this coastal, waterside town by foot, Segway, or the free trolley!
Take a peek at my Ultimate Date Night Guide on the Treasure Coast. You’ll find several of the restaurants are right here in downtown Stuart.
The Ernest Lyons House
The Ernest Lyons House, the oldest house in Stuart, was built in 1890 and restored several years ago by a local preservationist, Thomas Conelly.
The Clifton Guest and Fishing Lodge
The Clifton Guest and Fishing Lodge was built in 1914 by well-known architect Sam Matthews and later renovated by Diane Davant, a highly respected interior designer.
The Vitale family prevented a knock-down of this building by having it moved from its original location to a vacant lot closer to the other properties.
As you can imagine, these building tell the stories of the locals at that time who were the first families and merchants who pioneered Stuart into the culturally-rich town that it is today.
The Owl House
The Owl House, built in 1904, is a charming and adorable cottage overlooking the river, with a huge gated yard. It’s quirky points actually resemble an owl!
This is super ideal for families with kids who want to relax on the waterside lawn, and enjoy the view while laying on the hammock, or sitting in the Adirondack chairs next to the fire-pit.
Inside the house, you’ll find entertainment- there is an oversized chess board, plenty of board games, books, and resources on what to do in the area.
You’ll definitely feel like you’re in an old Florida Cabin. Many parts of the house have been renovated to feel modern and luxe, while others kept that old charm that we all want to “play house” in!

The Enchanted Cottage
The Enchanted Cottage is a two-bedroom house that was built in 1915. It sits on a spacious yard and has pool access. How adorable is it?!
The Blue House
The “Blue House” was built in 1914 and is a Sears and Roebuck Kit Home, which basically means that the builder purchased a “house kit” from Sears. The kit came with building materials, numbered in sequence, and a blueprint to put it all together. How’s that for historic?
The Oasis Suite
The Oasis Suite is a one-bedroom, one-bathroom right next to the pool.
The Coastal Cottage
The Coastal Cottage is a quaint two-bedroom cottage located directly adjacent to the main hotel
The Old Colorado Inn is my favorite place to recommend to family and friends when looking for places to stay in Stuart, because it is so close to everything, and I know they’ll be treated with friendly-hospitality!
