Also, it’s important to remember that as you seek out advice, every parent you talk to will have their own personal experiences. These experiences can vary greatly from person to person, so it's important to consider multiple perspectives and make the decision that feels right for your child and family.
Taking the first step:
SLPS district has a unique assignment system, which can sometimes be confusing.- SLPS uses an open-enrollment system, allowing parents to select from various schools close to their residence.
- Schools are divided into Zones based on your zip code. From those schools in your zone, you can choose your top three preferences.
- The district will then assign your child a school in your Zone from the options you have chosen.

Zoning Map
The district provides an interactive map to help parents determine school zones based on their address. To find out which schools are within your zone, you can explore the Zoning map here.- Visit the St. Lucie Public Schools website to explore your options and start the application process.
- Reach out to the Student Assignment Office if you have any questions or need assistance during the discovery and application process.
- If you are looking for specialized programs and charter schools, you can visit the St. Lucie Public Schools website. The county also offers a wide arrange of private schools and magnet programs.
